Roche has many developers, scientists and engineers working and developing new products and solutions.
These users had a growing need for Linux based clients and development environments to increase their productivity and workflows.
Previously, Linux was not offered as a standard OS option, therefore these business critical users reached out to the Global Infrastructure Services organization within Roche to provide such a solution.
The goal was to engineer a fully integrated Enterprise Linux Client that satisfies the different needs of the end users while at the same time staying compliant with the security and regulatory requirements of the industry.
One of the core goals was to provide the Roche Linux Client (RLC) on a global scale, at any location, in a full self-service manner. Especially with more and more end users working from home or other locations.

Adfinis has been part of the Roche Linux Client service and team for many years helping to engineer, operate and improve the solution. During this project Adfinis helped to shape, design and implement the new self-service vision for the RLC while ensuring best practices (infrastructure as code and zero trust) as well as the compliance requirements are met.
Thanks to the new self-service capabilities the deployment time of a new RLC device has been reduced to less than 15 minutes. In addition thanks to the global enablement engineering power can now be focused on new features and improvements instead of repetitive and tedious onboarding steps.
This makes Roche not only an industry leader in workplace productivity, but also a favorite place to work at for developers and scientists who love modern technology.
